Elon Musk, uno de los hombres más ricos del mundo y que ha destinado al menos 75 millones de dólares a la campaña del aspirante a la Casa Blanca Donald Trump, está nuevamente en el foco mediático, luego de que el diario ‘Wall Street Journal’ apuntara a unos contactos constantes con el presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin.
El diario indicó que Musk había estado en contacto regular con Putin desde fines de 2022, pero el Kremlin asegura que es «absolutamente falso».
«No, esto no es cierto», sostuvo a la prensa el portavoz ruso, Dmitry Peskov, quien añadió que Putin tuvo un contacto con Musk, pero antes de 2022.
Según el reporte del medio de comunicación, se ha tratado de contactos secretos, lo que, asegura el diario, ha elevado las preocupaciones de Washington ante el acceso que pueda tener Musk a información relevante por sus contactos con el Gobierno estadounidense.
WSJ explica que el presidente ruso llegó incluso a pedirle al dueño de Tesla que prescindiera de la activación de la red de satélites Starlink y que evitara proporcionar servicio de internet a Taiwán, el territorio gobernado de forma autónoma que China reclama como suyo.
Justamente sobre estos temas, Musk en 2022 rechazó la solicitud del bloque occidental para que sus satélites Starlink dieran mayor facilidad a Kiev en sus ataques.
“Recibimos una petición de urgencia de las autoridades gubernamentales para activar Starlink hasta Sebastopol. La intención evidente era hundir la mayor parte de la flota rusa atracada. Si hubiera aceptado su petición, SpaceX sería explícitamente cómplice de un acto de guerra mayor y de una escalada del conflicto”, escribió entonces el empresario sudafricano.
Según explica el medio, la agencia espacial de Rusia sostuvo en Telegram en mayo de 2022 que Musk «respondería como un adulto» por suministrar Starlink al batallón Azov de Ucrania y también indicó que había mantenido conversaciones con «rusos de alto nivel».
Desde esa fecha y en adelante, WSJ asegura que Musk y Putin siguieron en contacto, y su cercanía incluso pudo ser evidente en redes sociales, pues este año el dueño de X publicó en su red social la entrevista del presentador Tucker Carlson con el mandatario ruso en la que él aseguró que Musk «era una persona inteligente (…) No hay quien pare a Elon Musk, va a hacer lo que crea que tiene que hacer. Hay que encontrar algún punto en común con él, hay que buscar alguna forma de persuadirle», dijo.
Musk es un abierto seguidor de Donald Trump. De hecho, revelaciones federales mostraron el jueves 24 de octubre que el magnate de origen sudafricano donó unos 44 millones de dólares a su grupo de gasto pro-Donald Trump durante la primera mitad de octubre, mientras el multimillonario intensifica sus esfuerzos por respaldar al líder republicano de cara a las elecciones del próximo 5 de noviembre.
